It wasn't double digits! The final 9-0 scoreline heavily masked a spirited and fiercely determined performance from the Ladies 5s, who fought valiantly throughout a challenging match. Despite the tough opponents at the top of the league, our squad played out exceptionally strong and regularly broke through into the attacking D, carving out several excellent scoring opportunities through well-worked short corners. In a moment of sheer frustration, a solid, powerful strike from Jo looked to have rewarded the team's offensive pressure, only for a dodgy deflection to see the goal disallowed. Through it all, Sharon never gave up in goal, diving off at all angles and pulling off spectacular saves under a relentless barrage.
The post-match atmosphere shifted from grit to celebration as the squad rallied together to mark Lily’s birthday and honor an outstanding debut. The team loudly applauded Amelie, who stepped up for her very first seniors match and put on a stellar performance to earn the well-deserved Girl of the Game. While the scoreline wasn't the birthday gift or the result the team deserved, the momentum from our players and some lovely hard passing and good decisions from all players ensured the squad walked off with their heads held high.
