Ladies 4s vs West Herts 4

🏑 Letchworth 4s 3–1 West Herts

Well, what a game! Letchworth 4s came away with a well-deserved 3–1 win against West Herts, in a match featuring cracking goals, heroic saves, questionable levels of fitness and enough Player of the Match votes to suggest nobody could actually decide who had been the best! 😂

Letchworth started brightly and got the first goal through some lovely team hockey. Gemma switched the play beautifully with a pass right across the pitch to Haidee, who then produced an equally lovely pass to Lucinda. Lucinda did what she does best and calmly popped it into the net. 1–0 Letchworth! 🏑

West Herts weren’t going to make it that easy, though, and pulled one back from a penalty flick to bring things level.

But Letchworth had other ideas. A short corner presented the perfect opportunity for Haidee, who absolutely leathered the ball into the backboard. No messing about. No need for a replay. Just a cracking strike and 2–1 Letchworth going into half-time. 💥

The second half was a bit more of a battle. West Herts came out with plenty of determination and put Letchworth under pressure, but the defence stood firm and refused to let them through.

Special mention has to go to Sharon, who was feeling rough but still managed to pull off some brilliant saves. Clearly the medical advice was “drink plenty of fluids and save everything”. 😂

With everyone working incredibly hard, Letchworth eventually found the breakthrough for the third goal. It was a proper team effort, with the ball eventually finding its way towards the line and Abbie making absolutely sure it crossed it. Cue celebrations! 🎉

And just to prove how much of a team performance it was, 10 different people received Player of the Match votes. Ten! At this rate, we're going to need a spreadsheet, a recount and possibly an independent inquiry. 😂

A brilliant effort from everyone, plenty of teamwork, some cracking hockey and a well-earned 3–1 victory.
