A successful day at the offfice! We have been unlucky with the way some of our recent games have gone, so this week the team were primed to go out and make their own luck. And they did so in spades! We were 2-0 up at half time, thanks to goals from Haidee and a penalty flick saved by Carrie. The intensity in the first half was on a level not seen before. No one gave up on a tackle, no ball not run down, every sinew stretched to get back to help defend.
We maintained our effort levels in the second half, with Allegra scoring a lovely goal a couple of minutes in. We continued to drive forward, with two more goals from Jacquie, one a clear favourite for the ‘slowest ball to cross a goal line’ award. Allegra commented after the game “it was like watching a slow motion replay, but it was in real time”
The scoreline didn’t do justice to Bedford’s performance as there were plenty of counter attacks but our trusty defence made sure their tally was restricted to one.
When it came to voting for Man of the Match, the consensus was the whole team deserved the award for an outstanding team performance and putting into practice a wide array of moves we’ve worked on in training (and whilst our coach was watching!) However, the singing dog has to go home with someone and after votes for Gina, Carrie, Allegra, Tia, Haidee and Zara, it was Sue who gets custody for this week with 5 votes.
