The match coincided with happy hour which could be seen as a good omen or unfortunate timing, with some of our more experienced players feeling it was nearer to bedtime with the late pushback against of 4.45 at Blueharts. From the start it was clear it was going be a tight game with great passing forwards and runs from both sides - our defensive team worked solidly with no real threats. Blueharts grew into the game but despite many short corners they were no nearer to scoring with the help of our fabulous goalkeeper, Chloe making some great saves. Our youngsters did us proud from up the right with Zara, Grace and Allegra working beautifully together and fine defending and attacking from Cerys over on the left.
At halftime the game was very much in the balance for both teams. The second half started well with many waves of attack from from our forwards and it looks like we might just get the winner unfortunately after a melais in our own box a flick was awarded. Despite GK Chloe reaching the ball and almost saving it somehow it ended up in the back of the goal. Our heads didn’t go down with some great runs from Zara, Grace, Gemma, Tia and Jacquie onto Haidee, Allegra and Cat and so we nearly got the equalizer but somehow today it wasn’t to be.
Helen’s trickery on the ball was excellent if not always appreciated! Well done ladies against strong opposition we very much held our own and almost got there. Here’s to next week, we go again. A very well deserved WOM was Chloe Major an outstanding GK, player and all round good egg!
