Letchworth 4s took on Harpenden 3s in what proved to be a tightly fought encounter, full of energy, determination, and good hockey spirit.
From the first whistle, Letchworth showed that promotion this season was no fluke. Adapting brilliantly to their new formation, every player put in a shift, working cohesively as a team and demonstrating they more than deserve their place in this league.
The standout performance came from Olivia, who was deservedly named player of the match. She was relentless in her effort, popping up all over the pitch exactly where she was needed, driving play forward, and refusing to let the intensity drop.
The second half saw Letchworth come agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock on several occasions. Despite sustained pressure and some excellent attacking moves, luck wasn’t on their side, and a series of near misses meant the scoreline stubbornly stayed level.
The game finished 0–0, but while the scoreboard might suggest stalemate, the hockey told a different story: competitive, fast-paced, and full of commitment. Both sides played in good spirit, but it was Letchworth who walked away feeling unlucky not to take all three points.
Plenty of positives to take forward, and a performance that sets the tone for the rest of the season.
