Ladies 3s vs Stevenage 3

The Ladies’ 3s were raring to go after a successful training session during the week and a motivational speech from Captain Bekky.

We started the game strongly, holding the majority of possession and showing some lovely passing play. A few driving runs up the right wing from Kelley and Lucy allowed us to enter the attacking D, but the Stevenage defence remained solid and we were unable to capitalise on our opportunities. Stevenage then counter-attacked, and despite Carrie making some cracking saves, they were rewarded with a short corner, followed by a penalty flick, which gave rise to their one and only goal.

Momentum continued to build for the Ladies’ 3s in the second half. With Chloe, Abbie and Jade distributing some fantastic balls to our midfield, we were able to keep the ball largely in attack. Lois and Izzy were instrumental in claiming possession in the middle of the pitch, putting in strong tackles and linking up well with the inners through quick 1-2s.

We were rewarded with a short corner, and after a couple of deflections, Woman of the Match Lottie managed to lift the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net – hooray!

With that extra motivation, we played some beautiful hockey, with notable teamwork from Bekky, Olivia, Kayley and Honor delivering precise passes to our forwards – Jo, Sarah and Amy – who did a fantastic job finding space and driving the ball into the D.

This effort earned us a second short corner, where a slip from Lois allowed Chloe to slap the ball into the goal with speed and precision.

A well deserved win for the Ladies’ 3s to showcase the excellent work they’ve done at training so far this season!
