Letchworth came into a game against Broxbourne on the back of an encouraging 6-3 win the previous week. Broxbourne sat just above them in the league so a hard-fought encounter was expected. Letchworth made a mockery of this from the outset, dominating the game in all departments with Callum scoring an early goal to give Letchworth a deserved 1-0 lead. Continuing dominance led to a potential glorious second goal but this was sadly ruled out for the ball not having travelled 5 yards prior to entering the D. It remained 1-0 at half-time.
In the second half Letchworth continued to assert their dominance and pushed for a second goal. This eventually came via an intercepted pass by Tom Spencer who, with exemplary calmness, rounded the keeper to roll the ball into an empty net.
As the game rolled on Broxbourne tired and spaces opened up all over the pitch. Letchworth created chance upon chance and scored further goals including an extraordinary lob by David ‘El Capitan’ Ribchester and a rebound from a short corner by Adam Callis. A large number of these attacks involved Dillon marauding down the right wing from right back and earning him the celebrated MOM title. At some point during the waves of Letchworth attacks, Stuart failed to pass the ball to Leon when he was clean through on goal, condemning him to the shame of DoD but giving him the right to produce this Shakespearean piece of prose.
Ultimately it was an excellent team performance beating the team above us 4-0 comprehensively and bringing us within striking distance of 2nd and 3rd in the table.
