Mens 2s vs Vauxhall

Match report Vauxhall 

The Men’s 2s were up against bottom of the league Vauxhall today coming off the back of a strong win vs Blueharts 4s last week. Before the game we talked about starting with high intensity and looking to get ahead early and push on.

Letchworth did just that coming out the blocks quickly and making the ball do the work. There was good confidence on display across the team and high trust with positive passing at strong ball pace. This hit Vauxhall hard and started to create chances. The first goal coming after only 6 minutes from a strong shot from Gripper helped over the line by Leon!

We did not let up the pace and won a few short corners in the next 5 and Dave Gentry slotted away a drag flick to take us 2 up. Over the rest of the half we pressed hard on Vauxhall causing them real problems in getting the ball out of their own half. It was encouraging to see good passing and movement and focus on the last pass to ensure goals. This brought goals in open play for Ben, Charlie and Adam in quick succession. Taking us into half time at 5-0.

We talked at half time about keeping our shape better, focusing on our game and maintaining pressure on Vauxhall. We started the 2nd half with a bit of a drop in energy but soon picked it up and began transferring the ball round the back and further up the pitch to create more chances. Adam Callis bagged his second goal of the day at 53 mins again from open play. We kept on the pressure and started to win short corners one of which was converted by Dave R with a right slip bounce off Adam back to the P spot.

Charlie Kiff picked up the 8th with a well worked goal and Leon drilled the 9th home from the right side of the D, that ball knew it had been hit!

We finished 9-0 with the only real threat coming from Ben passing to their centre forward which he may have done to give himself something to do and chat about after the game!

MoTM to Charlie Kiff with an honourable mention for Leon. DotD went to the captain Dave R this week as JC didn’t buy his visionary concept of a Dynamic Sweeper/Centre fwd position!
