Letchworth 4s sealed their league title in style today, securing a vital victory with three games to spare and an unassailable 11-point lead. Despite a shaky start, they dug deep to turn the game around, showing determination and teamwork in a hard-fought 3-1 win.
The match began with early pressure from the opposition, and Letchworth found themselves 1-0 down after a short corner was deflected onto a foot before being slotted home on the rebound. However, the team regrouped quickly and fought back with determination.
Their equaliser came from a well-worked short corner, struck by Sarah Baker and expertly followed up by the ever-reliable Gemma Clark, who earned a well-deserved Man of the Match for her performance. With momentum shifting in Letchworth’s favour, they took the lead through another short corner, this time finished by Amy Mitchell, who showed great persistence to pounce on her own rebound.
The victory was sealed in style when Frances Firth made a superb run up the pitch before finishing clinically, ensuring Letchworth took all three points and confirmed their league-winning status.
After a nervy opening ten minutes, every player stepped up, fighting hard and playing with heart. The whole team can be incredibly proud of this performance—a true champions’ display!
